Removing JST Cable Pins

Removing JST Cable Pins

Sometimes, you just need re-order the pins on a JST cable. Whatever the reason, this is easily achieved with an X-acto blade* and a little bit of delicacy.

Gently use the tip of the blade to lift up the plastic clip holding in the wire and pull the wire back.

Repeat this for each pin you need to remove.

When re-inserting the wires, make sure to the plastic clips are pushed back down. Simply re-insert each pin in the order you need, taking care to orient them the right side up.**

That's it. Super simple. It can be a little difficult if you have shaky hands and bad eyesight like me, but entirely feasible!

*If you don't have an X-acto blade, you can use anything sharp and pointy to lift the plastic clips on the connector when removing the pins--pointy tweezers or a utility blade. Just be careful not to damage it by bending or deforming too harshly.

**Make sure the metal tab on the pin (which clicks into the plastic clip) is still sticking up before re-inserting back into the connector. If it got pressed down during the process just carefully fold it back up with the tip of the blade.
